Breastfeeding Basics Class

Set yourself up for successful breastfeeding!  This class is designed for first-timers and also for others who may have had difficulties with breastfeeding. Bring your My Brest Friend pillow and a baby doll (if you have them) for instruction and practice on techniques that work.  Learn: 

  • Five positions for feeding your child and when to use them  

  • Why we don’t want the baby to suck

  • What to do if the baby is too sleepy to eat

  • How you will know if the baby is getting enough

  • What to do if you don’t have enough (or too much) milk

  • When to introduce pumped breast milk

  • What to do if you must take medication or have surgery while breastfeeding

  • $125 per couple

    Held monthly on Wednesdays, from 5-6:30 pm

“Cynthia, you are a lifesaver! I did block feeding [as you suggested], and after giving my right side a chance to heal, I was able to latch just like my left with no pain! Thank you so much. We can still check in tomorrow, but I think your advice to let it heal was the trick. Cluster feeding the last 48 hours has been tough, and now I feel so hopeful for tonight! Hi Cynthia, positive update! I think just sandwiching on the initial latch until she vacuums has helped a lot with getting a deep painless latch. My nipple is still healing, but it is much improved. Ice after and Ibuprofen has been helping with breast tenderness after feeds. It is getting a lot better, I think it just needs time. Thank you for helping me, it was a great support to have you literally hands-on.
