Breastfeeding Basics Class
Set yourself up for successful breastfeeding! This class is designed for first-timers and also for others who may have had difficulties with breastfeeding. Bring your My Brest Friend pillow and a baby doll (if you have them) for instruction and practice on techniques that work. Learn:
Five positions for feeding your child and when to use them
Why we don’t want the baby to suck
What to do if the baby is too sleepy to eat
How you will know if the baby is getting enough
What to do if you don’t have enough (or too much) milk
When to introduce pumped breast milk
What to do if you must take medication or have surgery while breastfeeding

“Cynthia, you are a lifesaver! I did block feeding [as you suggested], and after giving my right side a chance to heal, I was able to latch just like my left with no pain! Thank you so much. We can still check in tomorrow, but I think your advice to let it heal was the trick. Cluster feeding the last 48 hours has been tough, and now I feel so hopeful for tonight! I will keep up the block feeding a few more cycles.
Hi Cynthia, positive update! I think just sandwiching on the initial latch until she vacuums has helped a lot with getting a deep painless latch. My nipple is still healing, but it is much improved. Ice after and Ibuprofen has been helping with breast tenderness after feeds. It is getting a lot better, I think it just needs time. Thank you for helping me, it was a great support to have you literally hands-on.
